A key focus for Villarreal Educational Enterprises is on the dissemination of key strategies for teachers, students, parents as well as adult learners of the Chicanx (U.S. born/based Hispanos/Latinos) community.
Our web-site, Capacitando.org, is being created to house those strategies in an interactive and exciting space designed to draw the attention of the Chicanx community. We believe that the way we learn, as well as what we are learning is an important part of our culture, and the dissemination of those research based instructional strategies along with other cultural, historical and linguistically significant resources will be a vibrant way to improve educational outcomes for the Chicanx community.
Further, For education professionals we provide in-depth professional learning experiences in person or asynchronously to support the free resources that will be made available on Capacitando.org.

Educators Professional Learning (Coming Soon)
For high school social science teachers and administrators. Our first offering is a digital workshop that is designed as a self-paced learning experience organized to provide support to those who wish to support reading development in the secondary Social Science classroom. In person professional development will also be available to support the digital offerings.
Student Support in Reading Comprehension (in development)
We will feature support for students who are struggling with reading comprehension and wish to access strategies that have proven successful.
Adult Literacy Support (in development)
Many adults struggle with learning disabilities that affect their literacy level. We will provide support to help them with reading comprehension with a coaching model that will use formative assessments and coaching.

Research Findings
The basis of our work rests on the idea that learning is a key human endeavor. Learning is a key element in developing a functioning democratic society. Given those precepts, developing a working knowledge of history and other social sciences is a key function of the educational system. With that, secondary social science teachers have a key role in ensuring that students can access reading materials that are assigned. The graphic to the right represents the key findings of the doctoral dissertation, "Increasing inclusion in the heterogeneous secondary social science classroom through existing research-based strategies" which has served as the key inspiration to organize research based strategies that serve to make improvements in the reach educators have to create a world that is more inclusive, equitable, and just.
